HOUSTON — Firefighters responded to a house fire near downtown Houston Wednesday night. Officials said the fire broke out at a house near Wheeler at Dowling just after 9 p.m. Wednesday. Neighbors said the heavy smoke and flames were coming from a halfway house. Houston fire officials said one person had to be rescued from the house. Authorities have not released any other details about the fire.
