HARRIS COUNTY, Texas – A man has been arrested and charged with intoxicated manslaughter in connection with the death of an 18-year-old woman in northwest Harris County.
Investigators said Travis Ayers was intoxicated on March 21 as he operated an ATV that Julia Wardwell was riding on. The pair struck a sport utility vehicle at the intersection of Kieth Harrow Boulevard and Queenston Boulevard around 9:30 p.m, according to the Harris County Sheriff’s Office.
Ayers and Wardwell were thrown from the ATV and taken vial Life Flight to Memorial Hermann Hospital in critical condition. Wardwell died at short time later. The driver of the SUV was not injured.
Deputies said the impact was so hard, the ATV spun around and rolled several times.
